Default Does ALF deserve a revival?

Is there any feasible way that ALF could be revived for modern times, and if so...should he? I mean, the character had not only the live action series, but two animated shows and a 50 issue comic in his heyday.

I mean, save for that weird talk show thing on TV Land in the early 2000s, we haven't really seen anything with him, and the character is relegated to that Simpsons joke for the most part. Plus, Paul Fusco, who created him (and voiced him) still does the character from time to time - he was doing some new material for MeTV when they started airing ALF a year or so back.

Maybe if they do ever bring back ALF, it could be done in the fashion of one of those mockumentary type sitcoms like Modern Family or The Office. The downside of doing another live-action sitcom however, is that the cast hated working on ALF (due to how grueling it was to shoot the show). Plus, Paul Fusco is rumored to be really hard to work with.

It wouldn't be as good as the original. IF they brought him back they'd have to continue him as his same character. Not crash on earth with another family and be the same ALF...that's already been done.

The ALF movie sucked so bad. The Tanners needed to be there in it.

I don't think a revival would last more than one season. It would be horrible.

Without the Tanners, it wouldn't be as good. ALF was a great show but the show was about more than just ALF....the Tanners played a big part.

Revivals are more often than not huge let downs. I really don't see the point. You should petition for it to be shown more in reruns to keep Alf's legacy alive.

Have you seen the new "One Day At A Time" revival? Same theme tune and almost the same premise, but nothing really connected to the original.

But ALF is ALF. He will look and talk to same. It WON'T WORK. It would be as if the Tanners never happend. He just crashes in a recent year on earth.

Or if they continue him on his own without them, that would also BE BAD. The TANNERS needed to be there. The movie sucked. It was not good at all!

It would be such a treat if the cast who played the Tanners could come back if they did want to do one. Such a treat. But they would never. All 4 hated the show in the end and didn't wanna keep doing it. I mean, even if for just a season. But so much time has passed. It wouldn't be the same. They moved from the old house to Iceland, or something, so the old house set would not be used. Lynn and Brian would be grown up with kids of their own. Same with Eric. Or single...As for the Ochmonecks, I doubt they would be back. Liz Sherridan is well over 90 I think now, not sure about Jack LaMotta...But both would probably be too old by now to reprise their roles. The guy who played Larry, I think he is too old now, if not retired. Kate's mother, the actress passed who played her, so it would not be good bringing ALF back, even if we were to see the Tanners again. Too much time has passed. It would have been a better movie had they been in it, even for small amounts even back in 1996.

It's almost been 30 years since the show went off the air. I agree that the Tanners would be needed but Project ALF in 1996 killed any support I would have given a reboot. I would have rather dealt with the unresolved cliffhanger than Project ALF as that's how bad it was.

The Tanner parents would be senior citizens now and the kids are grown with kids. The concept while a good for one the time is simply expired for today's times. Let the reruns air on the Family Channel for the new generation or Nick Jr. and keep it moving
