Mash the Movie was the springboard for this massive NBC TV share universe. After the success of Mash the Movie, a TV show was quickly developed, and then followed was Trapper M.D. that followed "Trapper" John McIntyre from Mash, After Mash was also developed, and that saw the return of Colonel Potter, Klinger and Father Mulcahy from Mash. Dr Craig from St. Elsewhere mentioned serving in Korea with a certain B.J. Hunnicutt from Mash. But the connections don't end there...

Cheers actually came before the infamous St. Elsewhere, where many of the doctors were seen drinking and associating with the various riff-raff that frequented Cheers, Carla even got involved in an altercation with one of the doctors because of the supposed poor treatment she received there. The Tortelli's was a spin-off of Carla Tortelli's husband, Nick. Then there was The Golden Girls, and Empty Nest, which was followed by The Golden Palace and Nurses, and one of the linchpins of this particular string of TV shows was The John Larroquette Show, with the Golden Girls reuniting for an appearance. 'Hurricane Saturday' also tied The Golden Girls, Empty Nest, and Nurses together very directly as one big hurricane ravaged through Miami.

Then you have Seinfeld, that interacted with Mad About You, and Mad About You interacted with Friends, which also interacted with The Single Guy and Caroline in the City, Joey was also linked to Friends, obviously. Frasier got his start on Cheers, and he and his wife Lilith appeared on Wings, as did Cliff and Norm. Ray Barone appeared on an episode of The Nanny in a high school reunion, and Doug Heffernan got his start on Everybody Loves Raymond, then in one episode of Becker, Ray Barone, Doug Heffernan and Cosby all appeared in his waiting room.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is a bit of an oddity and I wasn't sure if I should include it at all, but I think I should. Curb Your Enthusiasm occurs outside of the NBC shared universe, but it also exists within that same universe, on some sort of meta level, it all gets a bit subversive, but you'll be seeing more on that later on. Dr. Roxanne Turner also made an appearance on Homicide: Life on the Street, which could conceivably tie together the NBC shared universe with the John Munch shared universe, seen below.
