focusing on the furniture
http://ew.com/tv/2017/12/06/star-tre...ror-tarantino/ “The uniforms, the aliens, the stuff you can make GIFs out of,” says Darren Franich. Some of the finest hours of Trek, from Kirk through Janeway, are stage-y talk operas about smart people on a bridge set. Discovery and The Orville both set up deflector shields to avoid this basic reality: The former with a lot of glimmering special effects and self-important this is serious! action, the latter with a forced casualness and not-unoccasional d*ck jokes to satisfy (Seth) MacFarlane’s base.” |

sorry, but The Orville is NOT part of the Star Trek franchise or universe and not every show set in space is trying to be the next Star Trek. It can stand on its own and doesn't require a comparison to ST - if you don't like it that's fine, but to say you don't like it because it isn't Star Trek is just stupid.
Discovery might be an over-hyped pretentious vehicle designed to troll ST fans and generate money, but isn't the flashy special effects and exclusivity what reels them in? |

Now and then Orville has serious moments.
