Kater Gordon, who won an Emmy with Weiner in 2009 for co-writing the episode "Meditations In An Emergency," alleges in an interview with The Information that Weiner said she owed it to him to let him see her naked one night while they were working late. Gordon says she tried to brush off the comments, as she thought that confronting him would be a “lose-lose situation” that would “end her career.” “I knew immediately when he crossed the boundary that it was wrong,” Gordon tells The Information. “But I didn’t know then what my options were." A year after her Emmy win, Gordon was let go from Mad Men. Asked to comment, a spokesperson for Weiner issued the following statement. “Mr. Weiner spent eight to ten hours a day writing dialogue aloud with Miss Gordon, who started on Mad Men as his writers assistant. He does not remember saying this comment nor does it reflect a comment he would say to any colleague.” ALSO: Gawker asked in 2009: "Why Did Matthew Weiner Fire Mad Men's Kater Gordon?" |

Matthew Weiner denied Mad Men sexual harassment allegation while promoting his new book in the San Francisco Bay Area
Weiner’s speaking engagement in Marin County on Tuesday night carried on as planned, five days after former writer Kater Gordon accused him of sexual harassment. Promoting his new novel, Heather, The Totality, Weiner first had to answer a question about the controversy. “It’s a baseless accusation,” Weiner said. “Sexual harassment is a very serious issue and the focus of my work and career during (the production of) 92 hours of Mad Men. People who know me know it’s a very important issue to me, and that I’m not like that — it’s not me.” Weiner added: "This is an incredible moment (in history). I take it very seriously — it’s a conversation that needed to be had.” |

Marti Noxon Calls "Mad Men" Creator Matthew Weiner an "Emotional Terrorist Who Instilled Fear and Uncertainty"
by Michael Ausiello November 17, 2017 A former "Mad Men" writer who alleged that series creator Matthew Weiner sexually harassed her early into the AMC drama’s run is getting a high-profile supporter. Prolific TV producer Marti Noxon (Buffy, UnREAL), who served as a consultant on the Emmy-winning series during Seasons 2 and 3, corroborated accusations lodged by Kater Gordon on Friday in a series of tweets. “About a week ago Kater Gordon, a young female writer who worked on Mad Men, bravely came forward with her account of being sexual harassed by Matt Weiner,” Noxon began. “While sharing writing duties with him, she recalls that he causally mentioned something to the effect of ;You owe it to me to show me your naked body.’ I believe her. I was at work with her the day after what she described transpired. I remember clearly how shaken and subdued Kater was — and continued to be from that day on.” Noxon went on to describe Weiner as both “devilishly clever and witty,” but also “in the words of one of his colleagues, an ’emotional terrorist’ who will badger, seduce and even tantrum in an attempt to get his needs met.'” http://tvline.com/2017/11/17/marti-n...st-harassment/ |
