I totally agree with his top 3 on the list. Some of the other ones I didn't think were so bad and really liked those particular episodes.
Some of the first season episodes were pretty lame. One I think should be on a list of worst or weird TNG episodes is the first season episode Symbiosis. I think the premise of the episode is interesting and could've been a very good episode it's just that in the end it wasn't. It involves 2 planetary civilizations that are near each other. One was devastated by a disease/plague and the inhabitants of the other planet developed a "cure" for the disease. They've told the people of the plague ridden planet that everybody will have to keep taking this drug for the rest of their lives or the disease will come back. Turns out the disease is gone and the drug is just a narcotic they're now physically addicted to, and the disease recurring is actually just symptoms of their withdrawal from the drug addiction if they stop taking it. The citizens of the other planet know this so they're just basically interplanetary drug pushers it turns out. Like I say it could've been a good episode but it's just too heavy handed and preachy making it a really bad one instead. Ed. |
