TGIF coming to Hulu in September

Now we can relieve the great TGIF. Family Matters, Step by Step, Perfect Strangers, Hangin' with Mr. Cooper and Full House will be available to stream on Hulu starting September 29th, 2017.

BTW, Boy Meets World and Dinosaurs aren't part of the deal because they are owned by Disney (who has a deal with Netflix) and not Warner Bros.

Both should still be on Hulu nonetheless.

I just saw this earlier. I'll admit even though I've got all of Full House and Family Matters on DVD already Hulu may well have earned a new subscriber with this news. I've got Perfect Strangers and Step By Step but not all of them and the quality is all over the place, especially towards the end of both of those shows. The one wrench with this is Warner announcing they're going to unstall Perfect Strangers on DVD finally. Unless this is what they were referring to. Whether I really jump in and get a Hulu sub is going to depend on if this deal is exclusive to Hulu or not. I'd really like good quality copies of both perfect strangers and Step By Step on DVD or iTunes for local watching, you know these are probably all master copies of the episodes too. This will be a tough decision.

I hear that Boy Meets World and Dinosaurs may be on Disney's own streaming station by the end of this decade...but I wish other WB shows come to Hulu, but nevertheless...

The ‘90s were filled with some unforgettable shows like Full House, Family Matters, Boy Meets World and Home Improvement, but not all of the shows from the ‘90s are as memorable. We have a list of 8 shows – some of the good and some of them bad – from the ‘90s that have long since been forgotten.

7. Step by Step
Step by Step was a clone of The Brady Bunch. It starred Patrick Duffy and Suzanne Somers as two single parents with three kids each, who get married and merge their families together. The show ran for seven seasons (six seasons on ABC and the one on CBS), but unlike shows like Full House, Boy Meets World and Family Matters, Step by Step is not nearly as memorable.

6. Two of a Kind
Two of a Kind starred Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and it was supposed to be their big TV comeback; however, it only ended up airing for one season from 1998 to 1999 on ABC before it was suddenly cancelled. Because of this, Two of a Kind isn’t as memorable as some of the twins other television work, like Full House, which was on air for a significantly longer period of time.

2. Teen Angel
Teen Angel only lasted one season on ABC. During the 1997-1998 season, it was part of ABC’s TGIF Friday lineup and starred Corbin Allred as a high school student whose recently deceased friend (played by Mike Damus) returns to earth as his guardian angel. The show tried to capitalize on the success of the series Sabrina the Teenage Witch, but at the time that it aired, TGIF had already begun to decline, so it was cancelled after only 17 episodes.

Just the 10 of Us was a victim of petty, short-sighted network politics. The main reason why it was taken off the air (even though it frequently won its time-slot) was because since it wasn't a Miller-Boyett produced show (like Full House, Family Matters, Perfect Strangers, and subsequently, Step by Step and Getting By) it was the odd duck out among the TGIF line-up. In its place came Going Places, which only lasted a single season (so go figure).

Any show that has Mary Page Keller as the lead (i.e. Baby Talk and Camp Wilder) basically signed its death warrant right from the jump. This isn't a knock on Ms. Keller's talent as an actress, it's just that she was one of those actresses back in the '90s, whom Hollywood tried "to make" into a leading lady TV star, and never got any traction.

On Full House, their antics were cute because they were still literally toddlers for the most part, and weren't asked to carry a show (especially when compared to more talented/appealing child actors like Jodie Sweetin). Once you get over the nostalgia of Full House, there's really little left.

I think that Step by Step isn't talked about much anymore because it was basically like a '90s version of The Brady Bunch (if Bobby Ewing and Chrissy Snow were Mike and Carol Brady respective) but without the former's kitschy, innocent charm. It was just a rehash of the cornball slapstick and sentimental moralizing of past Miller-Boyett shows like Full House or Family Matters, but without anything else new or edgy to bring to the table.

Fantasy shows from the 1960s like Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, and The Munsters had good writing and acting. You Wish and Teen Angel were nowhere near their level. I also didn't like Brother's Keeper from the previous year but did like Two of a Kind.
