Singer Ed Sheeran To Guest on "The Simpsons"
First Look at Ed Sheeran's Character on "The Simpsons"
by Dan Snierson July 17, 2017 Following his turn as a singing soldier in the "Game of Thrones" Season 7 premiere Sunday night, the British pop star will be Simpsonized: Ed Sheeran is lending his multi-platinum pipes to the animated Fox comedy for a musical-themed episode, titled “Haw-Haw Land,” in the upcoming 29th season. EW has learned that he’ll be playing a musician named Brendan (think along the lines of Ryan Gosling’s character in La La Land) — and Lisa is instantly smitten with this slightly older fellow. “He keeps alternating between, ‘You’re not that great, but you could be fantastic,’ and she keeps falling for him because of his talent,” executive producer Al Jean tells EW. There’s actually a love triangle forming as well with Nelson, who tries to impress Lisa with his singing talent. How is Nelson’s voice? “Well, you’ll hear,” says Jean with a chuckle. “He sings ‘Save the Last Dance for Me’ with new lyrics, and he kind of bullies those notes.” Sheeran as well does a brief bit of crooning in the episode when he meets Lisa, and it sounds like the Lisa-loving Milhouse will not be pleased with this Brendan character. “When Lisa meets Brendan, Milhouse comes in and he goes, ‘I’ve brought three kinds of waters — cold, warm, and lukewarm,'” teases Jean. “Lisa goes, ‘I’m not thirsty anymore,’ and ‘Milhouse goes, ‘Dammit!’ That’s the effect he has on somebody else…. The girls love him but he’s difficult.” And what exactly brought Sheeran himself to Springfield? Longtime "Simpsons" producer Mike Scully heard that the musician — a "Simpsons" fan who rocks a tattoo of Blinky the three-eyed fish — was interested in appearing on the long-running comedy. “We had a perfect part for him,” explains Jean. “So we said, ‘Oh, great, we’ll have him do this!’ And we recorded him over the phone from England.” Season 29 of "The Simpsons" kicks off October 1st. Sheeran's episode is slated to air in late fall. http://ew.com/tv/2017/07/17/the-simpsons-ed-sheeran/ |

I just knew it would be a matter of time before The Simpsons started having guest stars who were not even born yet when it premiered. (Ed Sheeran was born midway through The Simpsons's second season).

And by the way, JamesG, I apologize I deleted my initial response to you post. I had to make a minor correction to it. |

The British singer-songwriter makes his latest TV cameo on Sunday’s edition of the Fox series, playing a boy who sings. ALSO: Why Sheeran’s cameo is a sign that The Simpsons has run out of ideas. |

I'm not even familiar with him. I wish they'd bring on the remaining members of the Beach Boys to do some voice acting. They got the Rolling Stones to do some.
Take care and God bless |

I just love how the gq article sums up why The Simpsons should end.

They must be doing something right because they've lasted for almost 30 years. They have the usual stunts that so many cartoons have that would get a person killed if he tried them in reality like when Homer was being hit repeatedly in the movie when he was holding onto a boulder; and of course like any stupid stunt I hear about, I'll give someone a dollar if they try to survive them. The last two pranks to Moe's have been risque, but what I like about them and all of the pranks is that it takes Moe and the others who are too drunk to figure them out when it comes to obvious ones. The first one I remember hearing was tame in comparison to the last two. Bart calls and says he wants to speak to Al Coholic. A tavern is the perfect place to find one because it's full of them, and Moe's too stupid to turn the tables on Bart by just saying he has to be specific because that fits the description of everyone in the joint, and he gets upset and yells at Bart and threatens him instead. The last one that aired was pretty good otherwise, and I hope the show keeps going until I die or until the end of times, whichever comes first.
Take care and God bless |
