Bare in mind that I'm referring to events that happened before the existence/creation of Twitter, which would be before March 2006. For example I have little doubt that had Twitter been around when these events happened, it would've been a big deal:

*OJ Simpson's slow speed Bronco chase during Game 5 of the 1994 NBA Finals

*The Miracle on Ice

*The 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake during the World Series

*The Heidi Game

*The 1994 World Series being canceled

*The Munich Massacre at the 1972 Summer Olympics

*Michael Jordan's first retirement
