Default This show has been canceled

According to this write up here, Last Man Standing was just now canceled after six seasons. Because I've been watching the show since day one, I've already written to ABC letting them know how I feel about the news. To me, at least one more season should be done because the last episode that was put out there for us wasn't even close to being a proper send off.

God bless you and everyone of the show always!!!

I wonder if CMT could keep the show going. They already show the earlier episodes and it wouldn’t be the first time they picked up an ABC show, Nashville being their first. I actually saw it suggested at another website that Tim Allen should take over for the guy who was recently fired at the FBI.

God bless you and Tim and everyone else of the show always!!!

In fairness, you can argue that the final season was for the most part pretty weak. There were simply too many characters and they kind of used up all their big time typical family sitcom storylines/storyarcs pretty early (i.e. going to college, getting a job, going to military, working for dad). This probably explains why they felt the need to add more characters (e.g. Jay Leno). In essence, the character pool became so diluted by the last season, that they seemed to lose focus by having to squeeze everyone in each episode.

ABC never believed in the show. That's why it was moved to Friday. It probably shocked them that it had so many viewers. Too bad it didn't air on another day with other multi-cam sitcoms. ABC wasted a chance.

I just found that out too and I hate it. I loved it and Tim. Now also Dr Ken is canceled. Some good shows on Fri. better take their place.

I don't want to delve into any conspiracy theories, but I do suspect that ABC was kind of ashamed of having the show around. They kept it on air because Tim Allen still had some star power and is a long time member of the ABC/Disney/Pixar family. But LMS was a show that they didn't own (and thus, wouldn't get a cut in the syndication profits) and they were likely getting increasingly weary of the political bent (especially as soon as Donald Trump got elected). I think ultimately, the cost of Tim Allen (both financial and PR) mixed with middling performance killed it.

When this show premiered, I remember critics really disliking it, and thought the show was sure to be cancelled, and it just sort of had a life of its own. I disliked Tim Allen so I only watched one or two episodes of it, but then again, I thought it was going to be cancelled, so why bother.

The actress who plays the wife is gorgeous however.

I watched it occasionally on Hallmark Channel and I didn't like this show at all. But I'm sorry for those who are fans of it that it's been canceled. I don't really like Tim Allen and I just couldn't get into the show no matter how many times I watched it.

If the station never believed in the show, it never would've gone on for as long as it did stick around.

God bless you and everyone of the show always!!!

ABC buried it on Friday night where shows go to die. I think ABC was just shocked it did as well as it did. It's hard to cancel a show that exceeds your expectations.

I've never seen the show, nor have I ever watched anything with Tim Allen. The first I heard of this was because ABC was being accused of cancelling the show because Tim Allen is evidently a conservative. I think it's pretty amazing that ABC would object to a conservative point of view on a show when virtually every other show on TV is liberal and run by liberals.

I also think that ABC figured that the show was mostly watched by the older demographic, who you wouldn't normally expect to be out on a Friday night. In effect, ABC didn't have anywhere else to put the show.

Ultimately, the show has lasted long enough to go into syndication, a main goal of all producers and their broadcasters. A new season will be more expensive and less lucrative to produce, as salary demands go up and ratings remain so-so. Any middlingly popular show that's already got 100 or more episodes in the can is likewise vulnerable to cancellation. The network frees up a prime time spot for a new, cheaper to produce show, and hopes it will do as well. If not, it tries again.
