Sad Charlotte Rae diagnosed with bone cancer at 91... 7 years after surviving pancreatic

disease

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...ne-cancer.html

Quote:
The Facts Of Life star Charlotte Rae has revealed that she has been diagnosed with cancer for a second time at 91.

The veteran actress told People she has recently learned she has bone cancer.

Now, she says, she has to decide whether she wants to go through treatment like she did seven years ago when she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer - or let nature take its course.

She was slated to begin treatment Thursday, People reported, but opted to postpone it while she thinks about it some more.

'About seven years ago, I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer — which is a miracle that they found it because usually it’s too late,' Rae explained.

'My mother, sister and my uncle died of pancreatic cancer. After six months of chemotherapy, I was cancer-free. I lost my hair, but I had beautiful wigs. Nobody even knew,' she said.

“So now, at the age of 91, I have to make up my mind,' she added. 'Now I have to figure out whether I want to go have treatment again to opt for life.'

Rae told the publication she is not currently in any pain and her love for life is not diminished.

'At 91, every day is a birthday,' she stated.

Rae was beloved by generations of TV audiences as housekeeper Edna Garrett on Diff'rent Strokes, and then its spin-off The Facts Of Life.

In 2015, she published a memoir The Facts Of My Life in which she detailed how she coped with the news that her husband John Strauss was gay and how she dealt with the loss of her eldest son Andrew.

God Bless Her! This breaks my heart, but Ms. Rae is a fighter and if anyone can beat it, she can.

The Daily Mail didn't quote Ms. Rae completely about her decision to have treatment. They make it sound like she may give up, but instead she said this:

“I wanted to think about it first,” she says. “I think I’m gong to go for it. The side effects were not too bad when I did it originally. I’ve had a great life, but I have so many wonderful things happening. I’d like to chose life. I’m grateful for the life I’ve already had.”

Oh No

She did live a full life...It'd be surprising that she gets through this...

I wish her the best, regardless of choice.

At 91, she's also living history and then some. I'd listen to any word she has to say.

Regardless of her age, I hope she fights and survives to live a full happy life for many years to come. Drives me nuts when people say, "oh, well, she has lived a long time already", as if that is what they will say when they are given a similar diagnosis at an old age.

Has anyone seen/read/heard a factual update on Charlotte Rae? None of the girls have posted anything on their social media... Hoping she is doing well all-considering.

She seemed to be doing well in late June, when she attended the Actors' Fund gala event in Los Angeles.

She was at a Hollywood charity gala last month, so it sounds as if she's able to get out still.
