Roseanne was one of the biggest shows of the '90s. It was the rare show that drew raves from the critics and was beloved by the public.
Roseanne Barr's next projects should have also been hits, but every attempt (Talk shows, sitcoms, reality shows, movies) seemed to mysteriously die. Do you seriously believe that she was somehow blackballed? |

Well TV success is very hit or miss even with well-established stars. Casts of Seinfeld, Friends, Frasier, etc; can testify to that. Also, while Roseanne has had a couple projects since her sitcom, she's mostly been away from Hollywood. The fact that she had so much creative control and owned a piece of the show it's probably not worth it to her to be part of someone else's vision.
So she's probably been offered opportunities to be on other shows/sitcoms but turned them down for one reason or another. Keep in mind this is the same woman who (wisely in hindsight) turned down the role of Peg Bundy, even though she was relatively unknown at the time. |

I think some of it has to do with Roseanne Barr being so firmly connected to the character of Roseanne Conner. I'd love to see Roseanne doing her own talk show or something, but it's also really hard for me to not see her as Roseanne Conner. Maybe other people feel the same way.

Goodman, Metcalf, Gilbert, Chalke and Galecki have all had nice careers since the show ended.
I think the main issue is that Roseanne was so closely associated with the backstage drama with the show that it ended up working against her. Call it the Linda Lavin syndrome (whose bad reputation from her Alice days has followed her ever since), all the bad press about her behind the scenes antics ended up working against her when the ratings started to fall and others were hesitant to want to work with her. |

She had her own talk show and it failed.

The sit com ended because people couldn't see the Connors being rich after they won the lottery. They could relate more when they were broke.
