Perhaps Drew Barrymore's character Dylan in the film version was an amalgamation from the old series of Sabrina (the leader) and Julie (the streetwise one). Meanwhile Cameron Diaz/Natalie was a mix of Jill/Kris, and Lucy Liu/Alex was a combo of Tiffany (rich, elite) and Kelly (sophisticated).
