Why did the creators of the show choose to make it animated? Arguably, the main the point or advantage of animation is to be able to do things that can't be done in live action. You can make the characters look as crazy as you want. You can have them go to places that wouldn't be possible with live action. You can even make them have crazy fever dreams and fantasy sequences. King of Hill never took advantage of those opportunities so I just wondered why did they choose animation if everything they did on the show could have been accomplished with live action?

I think that the producers took great pride in King Of The Hill being more realistic than a lot of live action shows. Plus Mike Judge was already used to doing animation since he also created Beavis & Butt-Head.
