Thank you for this. I never knew this existed before. I watched the whole thing, and although I recommend checking it out, it was a minor disappointment because there was not enough inside info on the show. A lot of stuff left out. It was clearly done as a Nell Carter piece because she had recently passed away and E! wanted to capitalize on it. Don't get me wrong, Nell deserved her tribute, I just wish there was more information about the inner workings of the show.

CLIFFS from the first few minutes of the documentary.

- As a teenager, Nell witnessed smoke from the bombing of the Baptist church that killed four little black girls in Birmingham, Alabama. She personally knew the girls.
- Nell gave birth to her daughter Tracey at 17. She claimed her daughter was the result of a teenage marriage, but the truth was that one night when Nell walking home from a youth group concert, she was r*ped at gun point and became pregnant.
- Nell left Alabama for NYC, leaving her daughter in the care of her sister. She sang at coffee houses and off-Broadway plays.
- Nell Carter tried cocaine for the first time backstage at the 1978 Tony Award where she won an award for her performance in the Broadway musical 'Ain't Misbehavin'.
