Is it better that so many series now operate on the "less is more" model, where ten episodes is a good annual run and 18 would excessive? But don't the actors, writers and production crew need full-time jobs in the meantime?
To give you an idea from the past, Frasier ran 11 seasons and produced 264 episodes. Meanwhile, The Mary Tyler Moore show ran 7 seasons, 168 episodes. And Charlie's Angels did between 22 and 24 episodes every full season on the air, and 16 in its "short" final season, for a total of 110 in five seasons. Now a days, Orphan Black will wrap up after five seasons with 50 episodes. And Veep has done five seasons already, albeit with a total of 48 installments. Therefore, are viewers and fans are being ripped off a bit by a slackened schedule and curiously stretched out production calendars in television. |

18 should be average for USA,any less and were being ripped off.
UK standards are less, but for them, less is more has been the standard for years. |
