‘The Big Bang Theory’: Johnny Galecki weighs in on sitcom’s future
The Big Bang Theory‘s future remains up in the air as it enters the back half of season 10 with looming contract negotiations for the cast. “We’re very much talking about right now, and it seems that the writers are very confident and excited that they can write some more after this year, which is an incredible testament to them,” said Galecki when he dropped by Entertainment Weekly Friday to talk about his new movie Rings. Although Galecki is unsure about how much longer he could see himself doing the show, he says the writers’ confidence does help make that decision.

I'm sure Galecki will be able to see himself doing the show if they offer him enough $$$.

Yeah, it's not like he has a big film career calling or anything.

If I were Galecki, I would ride the BBT train until it stops.

History is filled with actors who left hit shows to go on to bigger things.

They should end it. The Big Bang Theory just isn't funny anymore and it's a shame to say that because for 7 years it was my favorite show. I know Lorre and the cast and crew will run this show deeper into the ground because it still does well in the ratings, but they really should think about wrapping it up. There isn't anything more they can do with the characters that we haven't seen 100 times before.

I'm probably being a little cheeky. I'm guessing the guy is loaded with money at this point, and I have heard that shooting a weekly series is pretty grueling work. He's done it for ten years, maybe he just wants to relax and be with family or whatever.

Still, I agree; if he can take another year or two, why not?

Apropos of nothing, I was really surprised to see he's 42 years old. Would not have guessed that.

Big Bang is arguably one of the 15 best sitcoms of all time. That said, for a variety of reasons, it isn't what it once was. The circumstances that once catapulted the characters into the situations that made the show so funny to begin with have changed. It feels at times as if we are watching spin offs of the original series. The writers seem challenged to find something for Raj to do each week.

The one potential positive in all this, a lot more could be done with Stewart, I think there is an opportunity to develop a breakout character that could strengthen the comedic elements of the show.

One final point, if there is an 11th season, that should definitely be the end.

I don't doubt the show is hard work, but there's no guarantee of another series or movie if he leaves the show.

And while he may have indeed saved some money, some of those actors spend big because they're making the big bucks and get used to that kind of lifestyle.

If and when the show does end I'm curious to see who among the cast will be able to stay relevant or go into obscurity, that becomes a problem especially when a show goes on for far too long that the actors become typecast or unless they're really talented and diversified can they have a longer acting career into their senior years.

Poor Jim Parsons will never escape the shadow of Sheldon Cooper.

I tend to agree with you. It will be interesting, however, to see what roles Jim Parsons takes and if he does a complete opposite of Sheldon or not.
