FX Sets "Atlanta" Season 2 for March 1st - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

"Atlanta" Season 2 Pushed to 2018

FX announced on Thursday that "Atlanta", Donald Glover's Golden Globe-winning comedy series, will return for its second season in 2018 "due to Donald's production schedule," according to a network release.

Glover, who also won the Golden Globe for best comedy actor at Sunday's ceremony, will play Lando Calrissian in the upcoming young Han Solo Star Wars prequel, which goes into production this year.

As a result, "Atlanta" is getting bumped. So we'll have to wait another year to see the continuing adventures of Earn (Glover) and Paper Boi (Brian Tyree Henry). Maybe by then Earn's investment in dog breeding will have paid off!

When will Atlanta return for Season 2?
Filming has apparently wrapped, but Lakeith Stanfield has been teasing his Instagram followers with dates ranging from April 2018 to February 2020.

FX Sets "Atlanta" Return Date: TCA 2018

FX has slotted the premiere date for season 2 of Emmy and Golden Globe-winning "Atlanta". "Atlanta Robbin’ Season" (aka Atlanta Season 2) will debut Thursday, March 1 at 10 PM ET/PT.

In "Atlanta Robbin’ Season", two cousins work through the Atlanta music scene in order to better their lives and the lives of their families.

Creator Donald Glover stars as Earn Marks, a young manager trying to get his cousin’s career off the ground. Brian Tyree Henry is Alfred Miles, a new hot rapper trying to understand the line between real life and street life.

Lakeith Lee Stanfield and Zazie Beetz also star. Glover executive produces, along with Paul Simms, Dianne McGunigle and Stephen Glover.

Donald Glover: Atlanta Season 2 found inspiration in Tiny Toons Adventures
Glover said the TV movie Tiny Toon Adventures: How I Spent My Summer Vacation, which was created by splicing together four episodes of the animated series, served as an inspiration for Season 2. “If you watched them all together, they were a movie,” he said at the TV press tour. “We kind of took that idea of a whole story, but being told in a bunch of little parts that could be a show.” He added: “You enjoy them if they’re together, but you can also enjoy them in little bits.” Glover also explained why the second season has been dubbed “Atlanta Robbin’ Season.” ALSO: Glover welcomes his second child.
