Its biggest issue that it probably played too much on Boy Meets World for people who didn't watch that and not enough for people that grew up on BMW.

considering most of their other current shows are complete garbage this seems a bit hasty.

Personally, I thought the writing was way too over the top. I mean would high school kids talk like this?

GMW on the other hand, seemed too preachy and SJW-esque to me. Maybe because BMW was on over 20 years ago and on primetime network TV it was different and society was different. BMW would have goofy, kids growing up moment along with serious moments. I never felt the same with GMW. The problem was the show wasn't Girl Meets World. It's Girl growing up in Cory Matthew's world. It never felt real. She lived in a bubble, a pale imitation of Cory's life/shadow and emulated that to a tee. And the problems arose out of living in that world, not The World. |

It had a good run. At least it never jumped the shark.

New year, new network? Maybe it's not time to say goodbye to Girl Meets World after-all! http://eonli.ne/2iqaUjf

I think GMW does come back, they should loosen the reigns a bit on the writing.

Teen 1: Let's go this magical window in my room that makes everyone say their deepest thoughts! Teen 2: Sure, that makes perfect sense. Every episode had a lesson that seemed to be tied up neatly at the end. |

I can see the argument that there were too many episodes with messages, but not the relationship or BMW stuff. |

Angela to the best of my recollection (even w/o her ethnicity being brought up) was Shawn's (who was in the past, portrayed as somewhat of a young Lothario/playboy) first truly serious girlfriend. And I don't recall Angela's race or the fact that Shawn was in an interracial relationship was heavily touched upon. I guess my main point is that GMW erasing Angela from the narrative is depending on whom you ask, going back to the unspoken rule of how black female characters are to be treated on these types of shows. And even w/o the Angela factor, it did not make sense to have Shawn marry Maya's mother. That did not feel well built into the storyline. They seriously met and dated once, and then got married. Shawn could have still been a mentor to Maya without having to marry her mother. |
