Solid write-up! Mean Streets & Pastel Houses is one of my favorite episodes from the relatively short S01 (only 13 episodes).
As the review mentions, it's interesting how the episode doesn't paint all of the "punks" with the same brush & depict that all they're concerned about is mayhem & crime (as the media at the time depicted). I.e., in this episode the Brian character was shown as just seeing the punk "movement" as an outlet & was more concerned with doing well at school & going to college, etc. I.e., his obvious intent was to move on from this at some point, unlike some others in that group. This plot-line showed how strong the writing was in many of these episodes. Well-done. |
