Gotham really shouldn't exist; it completely negates the flow of events in the bat-universe. I actually refuse to watch it, because almost none of the villains featured should be around before Batman is, well, Batman. The presence of Batman in the streets of Gotham actually instigates the crime world to become more... colorful, theatrical... in response. This was one of the things the Nolan films got right, and they called it "escalation." Maybe they're doing it in such a way that it somehow doesn't matter, but I'd be surprised that they could pull it off.
Finally, there's no way that this kid should ever become Batman in this show unless it lasts 10 + more years. The actor is only 15 right now (I think the character is actually younger), and I for one don't want a Batman younger than 25. Plus... that's a lot of pressure to put on that kid to start filling out and becoming more physically "Batman-like" by the time he reaches his early 20s. |
