dOES ANY ONE Remember saturday morning cartoons? i remember when i was back in Elementary school you waited all week long until saturday then you would get up around 6:00 am to watch cartoons!! i remember watching the real ghost busters, he-man super mario brothers zelda nintendo power conan the baraibar Johnny quest attack of killer tomatoes heath cliff muppet babies doug teenage mutnat ninja turtlers power rangers spider-man static shock fantastic four batman justice league the jetsons the flintstones top cat & many more!! now days they got 24 hour cartoon networks!!

Saturday morning cartoons were a treat for kids and we loved getting up early to watch them. That joy has been erased, its just not the same now.

My favorites growing up were:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Garfield and Friends
Gummi Bears
The Little Mermaid
The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
The Smurfs
Pee-wee's Playhouse (not a cartoon but it was still on Saturday morning)

As a child I remember starting off with Mighty Mouse (yup, 6:00AM) and cartoons all the way to 1:30PM with Timmy and Lassie(At the time I had no idea this show and the other two versions (That's Jeff's Collie and the Forest Ranger Lassie for those of you in Rio Linda!

) were in reality one HUGE series. When these shows ended I'd either go out and play with my friends (We'd ride our bicycles to the penny arcade and spend half of our allowances on Pinball, the on the way back spend the the other half at a hobby shop, relieving them of a model kit or two) or help my father with the yard work (That only delayed the trip to the arcade!).

Things were much better, there were no "Do Gooders" demanding kids shows to be "educational" and politically "correct" and parents didn't fear what products was going to be presented at the next commercial break (Toys, Cereal, Sodas, Chips and Candy DOMINATED the commercials on Saturdays). Today's kids don't know what they are missing.

As for me, I can always recreate my childhood, thanks to home video.

PS. On Sundays after getting home from church I'd watch Jeff's Collie, then it was time for sports if the weather wasn't good for outdoor play.

Yes--I remember The Beatles cartoons, featuring their real voices and animated videos with the real songs, Fantastic Four, George of the Jungle, Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Show (with heavily edited cartoons--editing out anything violent, making for a lot of very short cartoons). You'd really look forward to Saturday mornings--cartoons and NO SCHOOL!

I always got up for Garfield and Friends. I still watch Bugs and the rest on DVD. If you don't like Foghorn Leghorn something is wrong with you.lol

My boys loved Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles and Garfield and friends.I too loved G & F !!!

Showing my age here,as a kid I loved The Archies , Sabrina the teenage witch( the original one) ,Wacky races , HR Puf N stuff (that had real people in it,not really a cartoon,but it was on Saturday mornings with the cartoons) .I had a crush on Jimmy!

Saturday Mornings were always a treat for kids because during the morning time there was a variety of Saturday Morning shows and cartoons that would keep kids interested while the parents would still be asleep or be having their morning coffee. But if you look at TV today you will no longer find any Saturday Morning shows for kids and I think it's because the stations want to focus on other programming rather than cartoons and other kids programming. The station that was the first to do this was NBC and when they had their cartoon programming it was successful but when NBC added a Saturday edition of the Today show and replaced the entire cartoon hour with the TNBC lineup NBC knew that they were gaining a new audience. While ABC and CBS were the kings of Saturday Morning cartoons they actually had a very smart lineup and when Disney got their own Saturday Morning hour for ABC it was indeed a smart lineup with shows like Recess That's So Raven and Doug and many more shows ABC had a hit on their hands and CBS had a great Saturday Morning lineup with cartoons like The Little Mermaid The Series Garfield And Friends and the CBS Storybreak. But I think in the future Saturday Morning Cartoons and shows will make a comeback because a lot of kids enjoy getting up to see their favorite cartoons every Saturday

I liked The Smurfs, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Mr. T, Muppet Babies, Punky Brewster, Gummy Bears, Flintstone Kids, and Alf. Okay, I have to go before I start humming theme songs and crying.

That was like me, one time I was really sick with the flu , and it was Saturday, and I didn't even get up to see the cartoons !My Mom was like "Wow, you must really be sick"

I not only remember Saturday Morning cartoons, I remember it being such a big deal that ABC.CBS,NBC would air prime time specials to advertise what cartoons were coming back, and the new ones coming.
