From Marc Berman's column Fall 2002 Programming Snapshot: What to Expect at CBS With one month left before the networks announce their fall 2002 primetime line-ups, what follows is an updated look by network of what to potentially expect. First up: CBS. -Already Renewed: King of Queens, Yes, Dear, Everybody Loves Raymond, Becker, JAG, The Guardian, Judging Amy, Survivor, CSI, The District, 60 Minutes, 60 Minutes II -Could Be a Keeper from Midseason: Baby Bob -Expected Back: The Sunday Movie, 48 Hours, The Amazing Race -On the Fence: The Agency, The Education of Max Bickford, Touched by an Angel -Canceled or Ready to Face the Axe: Family Law, The Ellen Show, Danny, That’s Life, First Monday, Citizen Baines -Total Number of Hours in Need of Fixing: 7 to 8 -Time Periods in Need of Potential Repair: Monday: 10-11 p.m. Wednesday: 9-11 p.m. or 10-11 p.m. Thursday: 10-11 p.m. Friday: a total revamping is possible Saturday: 8-10 p.m. or 9-10 p.m. Sunday: 8-9 p.m. -What to Expect: With five comedies now vying for four Monday half-hours (Baby Bob certainly hasn’t disappointed), the Monday trouble spot remains Family Law at 10 p.m., which has as much of a chance coming back as Becker does successfully standing on its own. On that note, don’t be too surprised to see Becker anchoring an hour outside of Monday (and with no Raymond lead-in) next season. As much as CBS has found sitcom success on Monday the problem remains finding chuckles (and ratings) on other nights. With Tuesday a success, the network is more than likely to focus on its troublesome Wednesday and Friday line-ups, with each night in need of repair. While Survivor and CSI have brought CBS back to life on Thursday, The Agency has squandered the 10 p.m. CSI lead-out opportunity. Minus Anthony Edwards on NBC next season CBS has a real opportunity here. Although you have to admire the Eye folks for being the only network to offer scripted programming on Saturday, Touched by An Angel is tired, 9 p.m. is open and The District is losing steam at 10 p.m. Chances are we’ll see at least one new hour on the night. And while the 60 Minutes clock will continue to open Sunday, a “C” grade for The Education of Max Bickford in both quality and ratings in year one may not be worthy of a second season. With so many other time period problems to consider, there is every reason to believe the perennial Sunday Movie will remain intact. -------------------------------------------------------- http://www.geocities.com/tmc_6882/Ha...?1019542163990 http://www.geocities.com/tmc_6882/Bookworm.html http://www.geocities.com/tmc_6882/CutiePie.html |

As long as Becker comes back, I'm happy. I think Everybody Loves Raymond is starting to get old, but I still like it.

My comments on the various shows listed here:
Becker is really funny and I like it. Glad to hear its been resumed. JAG is a good drama. My parents really like The Education of Max Bickford and I must say I enjoy it some myself. Hope it goes on the right side of the fence. The Agency is also a interesting drama. Again, the right side of the fence. PS : Hey, TMC, any NBC News? |
