CBS Renews "Big Brother" for Season 25
CBS Renews "Big Brother" for Seasons 19-20
by Liam Mathews Aug 10, 2016 CBS is on the hook for another million dollars in prize money over the next two years. Reality competition "Big Brother" has been renewed for two more seasons, CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller announced during the network's Television Critics Association summer tour on Wednesday. "Big Brother", currently in its 18th season, will air Season 19 in summer 2017 and reach its milestone 20th season in the summer of 2018. The summer seasons will be supplemented by a fall season exclusively on streaming platform CBS All Access. The fall season, which will also be hosted by Julie Chen, will begin shortly after the Season 18 finale on Sept. 21. http://www.tvguide.com/news/big-brot...-19-season-20/ |

I really don't understand the allure of this show - they just cram a house with a bunch of the worst human beings they could possibly find and just film them being complete a-holes to each other for a couple of months? what the heck is the point of that?

by Dominic Patten September 5, 2019 "Big Brother" is returning for another season on CBS next year and so is Julie Chen Moonves as the host of the long-running reality show. She has inked a deal with the Viacom-merging company to do Season 22 of "Big Brother", I’ve learned. How on earth Big Brother continues to exist is beyond me and I cannot figure out how Big Brother continues to survive in ratings is a mystery. I don't know how this idea of having contestants live in a house for a money prize came about but this show seems to be a winner for CBS. Mom and I saw parts of the first season of Big Brother and we found the show unappealing and confusing to figure out. It's also shocking that you don't hear anything about the first contestants from Big Brother's debut besides the news of the death of former contestant Cassandra Waldon and it seems that Big Brother is the target for making contestants big stars by putting them on other CBS shows such as The Amazing Race. Another thing I can't figure out is why they now have Celebrity Big Brother? I think CBS wants to make Big Brother the new hit reality show to replace Survivor and The Amazing Race in ratings and by making each season different more people will continue to watch it. Hopefully this will be Big Brother's final season

"Big Brother" Renewed for Season 23
by Rebecca Iannucci October 28, 2020 Whomever wins "Big Brother‘s" grand prize on Wednesday will not be the show’s final champion, as CBS’ reality competition has been renewed for Season 23. Julie Chen Moonves will be back once again to host the series, which puts contestants in a house with 24/7 surveillance as they attempt to avoid eviction and win the $500,000 prize. Though Season 22 was slightly delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, CBS is currently planning a regular summer launch for the show’s next cycle. “At Big Brother, we always say ‘expect the unexpected,’ but 2020 gave us our biggest challenge to date!” said Mitch Graham, senior vice president of alternative programming for CBS. “We could not be prouder of the entire team who delivered a fantastic season under such extreme circumstances. It feels fitting for this unprecedented season to conclude with an announcement of the show’s return next summer.” https://tvline.com/2020/10/28/big-br...season-23-cbs/ |

Big Brother: All Stars' season finale redeemed a very boring season
"It was mildly thrilling during the finale when there was actual drama," says Emily Yahr, who adds that "many contestants did not live up to the level of 'all star' strategy and gameplay that fiercely loyal Big Brother viewers were expecting." The news comes after the show crowned its winner for Season 24 making history once again.
