Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con, the Buffy creator was asked if he'd ever consider writing for the series. And although Whedon said it would be very "daunting" to follow "in the footsteps of [former showrunner Steven] Moffat and the guys," he also hinted that he isn't all that interested until Doctor Who goes co-ed.

Meanwhile, Grant Gustin of the the Flash recently said he would love for Whedon to direct an episode of the Emmy-nominated CW series. According to Comic Book Resources, Gustin met Whedon at Comic-Con the evening before. "He was a really nice guy and he loves the show," Gustin said. "He's seen every episode."

i like Joss Whedon's stuff, but he needs to just stay in his own corner. I envision his version being a cross between Dora the Explorer and Gossip Girl.

they already have a female Doctor - its River Song, and she fills that role admirably, they should probably have given her a spin-off already.

I don't know who they are going to get to run the show in the future, but they'd better get it right.

One only needs to consider the discussions about who will next play James Bond to see that. And it is not just James Bond: in recent years we have seen Doctor Who, the Ghostbusters, Luke Skywalker and The Equalizer all replaced by women, and men are left with the Krays and Tommy Shelby (a character in the BBC drama Peaky Blinders).” He continued: “Is it any wonder that so many young men are committing crimes? Such programs make crime look cool.”
