It's a rare condition in this day and age when a beloved 90's show hasn't been in the talks for a reboot- and yet, none seem quite so relevant as Family Matters. Groundbreaking in its premise, Family Matters dared to do what no other show had ever done before; showcase a beautiful sitcom on the importance of the family values of a black cop's blue-collar family. The Winslow's were not only relatable, but their patriarch was a police officer during times not so unlike now- and yet, this program managed to captivate the hearts of everyone and unify audiences. Sure, by the time the show finished it began focusing on the more outrageous antics of lovable nerd Steve Urkel, but the rock of the show was always Carl Winslow- the cop we all managed to grow to love and trust played by Reginald VelJohnson.

That interview used too much hyperbolic language from the writer, so I had to quit reading.

He's right...this needs to be revived!

I could see the show's pilot being Carl's retirement party and maybe him and Hariett celebrating their 40th or so anniversary. We don't even need Steve. He could be away, whether Jaleel wants to do it or not, have an offspring of Steve and Laura's "just like him", whether Jaleel is there or not.

I could see Eddie/Laura moving in together with their families into the Winslow house...maybe money troubles or something. Eddie would still be a cop. Carl and Hariett either buy a condo close by or live there, too. I could see Rachel, Richie and 3J making special guest star appearances. It would also be nice to note that Estelle had passed and when she passed after the show ended and how Eddie met his wife/had his family.

I think that this would be a good premise. Sort of like how when Rachael moved in with Hariett. We could see Laura and Eddie raising their teenagers in the same house.

Wow the author really is blindly in love with the show. Way too much gushing and sucking up. Kind of ridiculous. Yes the characters of Carl and Harriet were likable but I don't believe there was anything "groundbreaking" about the show, there wasn't anything in it that hadn't been done before, well except for the ridiculous Urkel storylines! And I'm sorry it didn't "unify" the country about anything, just because a whole lot of people like one particular sitcom doesn't mean they'll agree on anything else. And I for one wouldn't care to see a revival of it.

Carol Winslow is one of my favorite sitcom characters, ever.

That being said, I don't think the show itself was groundbreaking but it was a good show. A good, clean, funny, family-friendly show.

As for a revival show, I wish people would stop doing these. Leave well enough alone. I could see a reunion special but we don't need a new series based on an old series....period.
