Kaley Cuoco Confirms The Cast Of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Is As Dumb As You’d Think

Prenup wizard Kaley Cuoco stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Monday night, as she comes up on nine years of working on The Big Bang Theory. Even though her character didn’t start out as a “nerd” stereotype, Colbert asked Cuoco if she’s absorbed enough knowledge during her years on the show that she could fake her way through a scientific conversation.

Laughing, Cuoco says, “No… I would like to pretend I could, and the guys on the show say they’ve learned things,” making air quotes. “They haven’t learned anything.” She confirms that it’s “all BS” and that they have “real people with real brains who write all that stuff,” and that the cast — much like the slightly more evolved trained chimpanzees that they are — just say what’s on the page.

Is it really that hard to follow? My impression of The Big Bang Theory was that it was 80% bad geek puns and broad Star Trek and Star Wars references, but hey… if she says so, who am I to say otherwise?

Later in the show, Cuoco told Stephen Colbert why she hates working with babies, who she says are little divas who only work six minutes and get to cry whenever they want. I hate to admit it, but she kind of has a point.

I think Kaley may have been joking about working with babies. I would have to see the interview portion where she said that to see if she was being tongue in cheek or not.

And it shouldn't surprise anyone that the actors (with the exception of Mayim Bialik, who really is a scientist) are not science-oriented. Even Jim Parsons has said he's had trouble at times with some of the dialogue he has to rattle off.

Though you'd never know it from his flawless delivery.
