Two things: The Flash's Tom Cavanagh already spilled the beans about Supergirl's move to Vancouver, when he told Hollywood Today on April 26 that the show was moving up there "next week." It's there already.
Second, California has already said it wouldn't grant Supergirl a tax break for filming in L.A. next season. That was a deal-breaker, right there. So, really, all that's left is whether the show will continue and, if it does, on which network. Les Moonves (who runs both CBS and The CW) wants the hour on CBS back so he can put on something that'll draw more eyeballs, and he wants to bolster The CW's superhero franchise. I don't think there's any doubt that Supergirl will get a second season, and it's most likely going to be on The CW. |

I recently read on Reddit that if The CW gets sold, it in their humble opinion, will likely mean that the DC shows will get canned ASAP. Not necessarily because the new owner would want them gone, but because being co-owned by Warner Bros./WarnerMedia means that The CW pays a discounted licensing fee for the DC Comics characters. That's why it cost so much more for CBS to produce Supergirl in its first season than it did for CW to do it, despite CW being co-owned by CBS' parent company. The new owner just probably wouldn't have the money to do that.
