Default Whatever happened to Klasky-Csupo?

They seemed to be one of the biggest animation companies of the '90s, behind everything from Rugrats to Duckman to The Wild Thornberries to Rocket Power, but then they just seemed to fade away. Whatever happened to them?

They're still around and active.

But the reason they've faded into obscurity is essentially because Nickelodeon was the only channel to provide them with a mainstream outlet for their projects and they decided to server their ties with Klasky-Csupo after the program you listed ceased production (due to a change in taste and direction).

I should mention, Arlene Klasky has said she's more than willing to produce more Rugrats episodes if Nickelodeon orders them.

^Keeping my fingers crossed for a Rugrats reboot! That would be beyond awesome if they do it right and keep the original VAs. I love Rugrats!

Klasky-Csupo was the king of animated cartoons during the 80's and 90's and they got started in 1982 but did you know that The Simpsons animated short cartoons on The Tracey Ullman Show was their first big animation hit that made them famous? I knew about Klasky-Csupo because I watched Rugrats and I was amazed that Klasky-Csupo's cartoons were drawn so great. And another cool fact about Klasky-Csupo was that not only did they create Rugrats Klasky-Csupo also did the famous ABC Edith Ann Specials as well. When I first saw Klasky-Csupo cartoons I was shocked at what a unique look that no other cartoons had that you cannot find in many of today's animated cartoons this century

Yes they were trademarked in 1982 (and working out of an apartment) but back then they only produced small tv station bumpers and commercials. Also text for film trailers. They didnt have their major breakthrough until 1987 for the Tracey Ullman show.

When you think of '90s Nickelodeon nostalgia, this show comes up (despite coming out in 1999) and often to mixed reception. Rocket Power was the creation of Klasky Csupo, one of the most notable animation studios of the '90s. Let's take a look at what happened to Rocket Power!

Before Nickelodeon had SpongeBob, they had Klasky Csupo: the animation studio behind Rugrats, The Wild Thornberrys, AHHH Real Monsters, Rocket Power and As Told By Ginger. They were the studio that built Nickelodeon and were a titan of thhe 1990s and early 2000s but nowadays, they are virtually gone. What happened to this once mighty studio? What brought them to their knees?
