Default Castle shakeup: Stana Katic among two cast members not returning for Season 9

http://deadline.com/2016/04/castle-s...ut-1201739022/

Katic, Castle’s female lead, and original cast member Tamala Jones, are out for Season 9, which Deadline reports will likely be a shortened 13 episodes. Deadline says that while Nathan Fillion was offered a new deal, Katic was never approached about returning for next season. According to Deadline, she and Jones were told late last week they won’t return due to budgetary reasons.

Um... WHAT!!!! She's the co-lead. Her relationship with Rck Castle is the driving force of the series (for me anyway). I can't picture Castle without Beckett. It makes no sense that they would simply lose the character for budgetary reasons.

Default Report: Stana Katic was unhappy on Castle after repeated clashes with Nathan Fillion

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/liv...-castle-884785

Katic’s ouster should come as “little surprise,” says The Hollywood Reporter, which reports that the actress "has been unhappy on the series and has had repeated clashes with lead Fillion. That led producers to split up the on-screen couple this season — drawing the ire of dedicated fans who had been waiting eight years for the couple to marry.” PLUS: Creator Andrew W. Marlowe is "Heartbroken. There are no words,” Castle cast members react to the news, and Stana Katic and Tamala Jones release statements reacting to the news.

Default “Seeing so many prominent female characters exit at once is strange”

http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/tv-d...es-1201755683/

Maureen Ryan points out that today's Stana Katic Castle departure comes amid a slew of actresses exiting their TV roles. "Adding to that strangeness,” she says, "is the fact that now series leads are fair game… well, it’s very odd, to say the least. Not to mention disturbing. I’m finding it difficult to think of a heterosexual white male lead character in a drama who was written off his show or killed off in the last few months. I’m having trouble coming up with many instances of that scenario this spring — if any.” PLUS: “To save money on a TV show, just get rid of the women”!

Ahmm....not cool . The show seems to make no sense without Becket...are they planning to kill her off? Or how do they plan to continue season 9?

Did we learn nothing from "Laverne & Shirley"'s disastrous Season 8, aka, "Laverne w/o Shirley"?. Just cancel the show, don't dissect it.

I've never seen Castle but I've always wanted to. But this just sounds horrendous.

Default Nathan Fillion breaks his silence on Stana Katic’s Castle exit

http://tvline.com/2016/04/19/castle-...ion-interview/

“Stana has been my partner all this time, and I thank her for creating the character of Beckett,” the actor posted on Twitter. “I wish her well, and have no doubt she will succeed in everything she pursues. She will be missed.” PLUS: Moly Quinn reminds fans that Fillion "IS Castle."

It's a two person show. They need to just end it with dignity. 13 episodes more is not enough of a reason to continue.

Default Have you quit watching a TV show following a major character’s departure?

http://tvline.com/2016/04/19/the-bla...oone-season-3/

Will Stana Katic’s exit lead to viewers fleeing Castle? PLUS: Katic tweets thanks to Castle fans for their support.

Hate to see Beckett go, it seems like they could have kept her around for the final 13 episodes.

Default Claim: Nathan Fillion bullied Stana Katic on the Castle set

http://www.usmagazine.com/entertainm...illion-w203418

According to Us Weekly, two sources say the tension between the future former co-stars was so palpable that she would cry.
