TV shows that ended way before they needed to - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Any shows that quit while they were WAY ahead? More to the point, I'm really looking for shows that voluntary called it quits rather that shows that were prematurely canceled (because that's too easy in my estimation).

It's been stated before that the only reason Mama's Family ended when it did was because they had enough episodes for it to be sold into syndication packages.

It seriously should've lasted AT LEAST one more season so we could've seen little baby Tiffany Thelma more.

Wasn't another reason for why Mama's Family ended when it did was because the executive producer, Joe Hamilton (Carol Burnett's ex-husband) was dying of cancer (which was so bad, that it literally started to eat away from his face) and Vicki Lawrence just didn't have it in her continue under those circumstances?

^I haven't heard anything about that but it could be true. I'm not sure. They didn't mention it at all in the bonus features reunion on the DVD set from Time Life.

Ok I'll go there because I am *ahem* #1 male fan of Gilmore Girls. This show should have had a final season. Not that I'm not excited about it coming back for a reboot but it should have ended with Season 8. There was too many loose ends when the show did end the way it did.
