Natalie Cole's Family Slams Grammys for "Shameless" Tribute
Natalie Cole's Family Slams Grammys for "Shameless" Tribute
by Sadie Gennis Feb 16, 2016 Natalie Cole's family is calling out the Grammy Awards for not giving the late singer the tribute they believe she deserved. While the ceremony honored David Bowie, Motörhead's Lemmy Kilmister, Earth, Wind & Fire's Maurice White, The Eagles' Glenn Frey and B.B. King with individual tribute performances, Cole was only featured in the Grammys In Memoriam montage. "Here is a woman who has been in the business for four decades, had 21 Grammy nominations and won nine Grammys," Cole's son Robert Adam Yancy told Entertainment Tonight. "She deserves more than [to be a part of] a minute-and-a-half tribute. It was shameless the way they minimized her legacy. We will find solace in her legacy as well as her endless fans around the world." Cole's sisters, Timolin and Casey, shared a similar sentiment, telling ET: "Sadly a FORGETTABLE tribute to Natalie Cole. Words cannot express the outrage and utter disappointment at the disrespectful tribute, or lack thereof, to a legendary artist such as our sister." Cole, who was the daughter of legendary singer Nat King Cole, won nine Grammys in her lifetime and was the first black woman to win Best New Artist. She died at the age of 65 of heart failure in December. http://www.tvguide.com/news/natalie-...oriam-tribute/ |

I felt that way with the Memoriaum in the 2015 Oscars...just a few recognitions...and no scenes from the movies that the actors were in...and they didn't even give Robin Williams a good dedication that year!

To me, they should just be glad that she was even remembered because I have read elsewhere that several people were completely forgotten about.
God bless you and her family always!!! Holly P.S. One overlooked person was Grand Ole Opry legend Jim Ed Brown ("Pop A Top") of the group from back in the day named The Browns ("The Three Bells"), may he rest in peace. |

^I love that song, "Pop a Top"! Alan Jackson also did a remake of it but it wasn't as good as Brown's original version.

^^^ I was afraid that my newest favorite was going to be over looked, Billy Joe Royal that is, but I was pleased to see him be included at 3:02 in this clip...on one hand of course. On the other hand it crushed me to see him in such a group of people because I didn't officially discover him until after his going forward last fall.
God bless you and his family always!!! Holly |

“Frankly, I think it was appropriate,” Ken Ehrlich says of showing a “touching and emotional” video clip. Cole’s family criticized the awards show for not having a more substantial tribute. |
