The O.J. trial was not just the Trial of the 20th Century, says Willa Paskin. "As FX’s hugely watchable new miniseries The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story demonstrates, it is the trial of our current century as well," she adds. "It extends tentacularly into the present moment, when we are once again in the midst of a national reckoning about the intrinsic racism of our police forces, when the NFL is grappling with violence done to and by its players, and when a 24/7 celebrity news culture is dominated by the O.J.-connected Kardashians. Race, sex, violence, fame, football: the live wires of the O.J. trial are still sparking with the same powerful, electrifying charge. The series’ timing is so propitious as to be vertiginous. The truth is more prompt than fiction.” PLUS: People vs. O.J. is absorbing, infuriating and thoroughly entertaining, the “simply awful” John Travolta is the only weak link in a great cast, it successfully acquits Ryan Murphy, it is enormously compelling, even bold, as a legal procedural, the actors wow with empathy and nuance, it is not crude or cartoonish but ideologically and emotionally nuanced, it is incredibly watchable and clever as it pivots between its many big themes and the more basic issue of dramatizing The Trial, the miniseries is an intoxicating mix of truthiness and speculative soapiness, Sarah Paulson talks playing Marcia Clark, author Jeffrey Toobin on his book becoming an FX miniseries, and FX is convinced you no longer have O.J. fatigue. |

I liked Stephan Colbert saying this show meant Peyton Manning wasn't the only white Bronco on TV this week.

Yeah we watched it at 10-11:20 ! Than they were running it again! Really good!!! The only one I don't think was casted well is OJ!! Cuba Gooding (nothing against him, I think his acting is good in this) ) but he isn't OJ Simpson at all! Looks nothing like him or sounds nothing like him! The rest of the cast is great! WOW, David Schwimmer is really spot on as Robert Kardashian! And Johnny Cochran, my GOD he looks just like him!!!!And Marcia Clark and Kato were casted really well too! And John Travolta as Robert Shapiro, he doesn't look that much like him but I think he is capturing his personality and mannerisms from what I remember of Shapiro!

The American Crime Story debut wasn’t able to delve into why Mark Fuhrman knew where O.J. Simpson lived (in fact, the controversial detective was responsible for Simpson’s arrest for domestic violence in 1989). The premiere also didn’t explain why Kato Kaelin lived with Simpson (he was in the middle of a power struggle between O.J. and Nicole). PLUS: People v. O.J. filmed in the real Robert Kardashian house, Simpson actually did threaten to kill himself in Kim Kardashian’s bedroom, the Kardashian kids did indeed attend Nicole Brown Simpson’s funeral, Marcia Clark calls the event series “extremely painful” — but Sarah Paulson “is a genius,” Courtney B. Vance recalls reacting to the O.J. verdict while filming with Tony Goldwyn, and inside the three-year journey to bring The People v. O.J. to the small screen. |

About 5.1 million tuned in for the American Crime Story franchise debut, topping The Shield’s 4.8 million in March 2002. PLUS: Marcia Clark is “super impressed” with Ryan Murphy, Kato Kaelin complains there’s too much Kato Kaelin, and O.J. actually threatened to kill himself in Kim Kardashian’s bedroom. |

Despite Cuba Gooding not looking the part of O.J. I think he did good considering any no-name actor wouldn't be able to carry the 10-episode miniseries except for maybe Idris Elba but he might've been too pricey.

"What I think is unfortunately going to get lost in this is that my brother was doing a good deed,” says Kim Goldman. "[He] walked in on what we believe was a horrific crime and he didn't run.” She adds: "They don't show that in this. And that really sucks. My brother could've run and saved his own life. And he stayed to help his friend [Nicole] ... I want people to remember my brother was a hero." |

The glove didn't fit because it was stiff, and shrunken from dried up blood! Also OJ had arthritis and took anti inflammatory drugs and suddenly stopped taking them prior to the glove demonstration in court !

In what Ryan Murphy calls a “once-in-a-lifetime occurrence," the American Crime Story series shot for two weekend days on a mile-long stretch of the 710 freeway in Los Angeles. “It was probably the hardest and most rewarding thing I have ever directed because it was so complex,” says Murphy. “It was the thing that drove the production team to a nervous breakdown. I always said I’m most interested in what people don’t know. So we started in the car and we got all of Malcolm(-Jamal Warner) and Cuba (Gooding Jr.)’s performances first and I wouldn’t move on until we got that. And once we got that we built outwards and did the chase, the aerials and the 200 police officers and all of that. On the last minute of shooting on the second day, we got the very last shot we needed. So it was very nerve-wracking. But in L.A., historically, you can’t close down a freeway!” PLUS: How much of Episode 2 was accurate?, Malcolm-Jamal Warner calls shooting on an empty freeway “surreal,” in defense of Cuba Gooding Jr. as Simpson, David Schwimmer recalls following the O.J. trial while filming Season 1 of Friends, and Schwimmer’s Ross Geller baggage actually works with the Robert Kardashian role. |
