Default Norman Lear speaks out against political correctness in TV’s Golden Age, reveals what

The 93-year-old TV legend says of political correctness, “I don’t think the narrow point of view serves the American people well.” Lear also revealed at the Television Critics Association press tour that he’s been watching Transparent, Homeland and Ray Donovan.

He's right and any of his shows would never get aired because of PC.

The funny part of this is that PC is really liberalism run amok and Lear was a liberal crusader.

Very true, though there are many liberals who don't support PC.

There has been right-wing political correctness, too (Outrage over red Starbucks cups; the individual who complained about the NBC Peacock being a Gay Pride agenda). PC is NOT strictly a leftist thing.

True too. PC to me isn't left or right but rather stupid and like many things started with a valid purpose. It of course warped into the cesspool it is now.

I have been watching "All in the Family" and "Sanford and Son" and it is interesting what people could say back then that could not be remotely said now.

Archie Bunker one episode was calling the Chinese "chinks". My wife is Chinese (I am white) and this was objectionable to me, when I wouldn't usually care what people say. It is all well and good to call a group of people names since they are not your group. But when it is your group, it hits home.

The same could be said about George Jefferson and Fred Sanford to name a couple and their remarks towards the white race. I'm white and didn't find it offensive, I found it to be comedy. I wish people would stop with all this and that offends me.

Same here. I'm white and wasn't offended when they used honky on those shows because it was funny. People get too offended over everything. I mean I teach religious ed at a Catholic Church and I had someone offended because I was teaching the church's view on marriage. I didn't say it was how I felt but how the church feels. People need to lighten up.
