What are some shows that got bogged down but made a strong recovery?

for me it was small ville!! i didn't think it sucked but it was on the air for 10 years but the later seaons gotten better!!

i could say China Beach: it was good the first 3 years(1988-90) then it went downhill for a little bit as they kept traveling back and forth between the 60s and the present day but when the show came from the "hiatus" it actually got better

Frasier- excellent First few seasons! Lacked in quality during the middle years, and finally finished off strong with season 11
