73rd Golden Globes Nominations

The 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards nominees have been announced! Netflix leads with 8 (up from its 6 from last year) nominations. HBO (7), Starz (6), Amazon Video (5) and Netflix (5) followed.

ABC and Fox lead the broadcast nominees with 4 each this year followed by CBS with 1.



The most nominated television series with 3 this year were "American Crime", "Fargo", "Mr. Robot", "Outlander", "Transparent" and "Wolf Hall".

The telecast airs LIVE on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016 from 8-11pm ET/5-8pm PT on NBC hosted by Ricky Gervais.

Empire was the only network show nominated this morning in either the Comedy or Drama Series categories, while shows on streaming services took up five nominations total in both categories. Gaga’s nomination, says Robert Rorke, "reeks of the kind of palm-greasing for which the Globes are famous.” He adds: "Gaga is not an actress. What’s she doing as the vampy Countess on AHS: Hotel is a performance, all right, but it’s the kind of voguing you might see in one her music videos. Her dialogue delivery is stilted — and that’s putting it kindly.”

The annual Globes — which have become free promotion for outlets like HBO and Netflix — gives the Peacock big bucks, thanks especially to its upscale audience. The Globes also gives NBC a chance to promote its own shows.
