Default Will Girl Meets World get canceled after only 2 seasons? New rumors may not be true

http://www.sheknows.com/entertainmen...infuriate-fans

Quote:
The ratings drop mentioned in the article is only for one week. According to Headline Planet, per Nielsen cable data, this week’s episode “drew a 0.45 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic, a 0.47 adults 18-34 rating, and a viewership total of 2.145 million.”

Compare to last week, which posted a 0.67 adults 18-49 rating, a 0.70 adults 18-34, and a viewership mark of 2.504 million. A drop for sure, but networks generally don't base major decisions on shows in their second season on a one-week ratings decline.

Despite the one-week decline, Girl Meets World is still one of the Disney Channel’s strongest offerings — so it makes absolutely zero sense that execs would not renew one of their biggest draws.

In addition, star Rowan Blanchard hinted at things to come in the as-yet-to-be-announced third season in a recent interview. While discussing the Riley/Lucas/Maya love triangle, she told TVLine, “I think we all saw it coming. We just knew it was natural for the characters. If you go back in Season 1, there are certain lines that Lucas says to Maya or Maya says to Lucas… and it’s so obvious they have feelings for each other. I don’t know what’s going to happen in Season 3, but for me, this all feels so natural… Who knows, maybe we’ll be in exact opposite positions in our fourth season.”

It seems like most do but I can think of some that lasted only two seasons ("Phil of the Future" and most recently "I Didn't Do It" come to mind).

I want GMW to come back but if it doesn't at least we got to see most of our favorite characters again. I figured when BMW ended in 2000 that was the last time the actors would play those characters. So this whole series has been a treat.

it would be stupid to cancel one of their strongest shows ratings-wise, but apparently Disney (and Nick) do this all the time to prevent the cast from getting any raises or affecting their percentage of residuals from syndication/re-airings.

so the bottom line is that the show will get cancelled exactly when Disney can get the best return on their investment, regardless of anything else.

No it won't. Its one of Disney's HIGHEST rated shows. Girl Meets Texas eppy's hit almost 3 million.

I agree, Disney would be insane if they dropped this show from it's lineup.

Let's also not forget that season 2 has been surprisingly long and it's not over yet. It's currently listed to run for 29 episodes. That's up from season 1's run of 21 episodes by quite a good deal.

They must have faith in it to give it that much material.

Yeah, they will not get rid of this show. The thing I wish they would fix is the time slot. When is the show on? Also, they don't show the recent episodes.

An article on TVSeriesFinale.com was posted last Wednesday (July 27) suggesting that season three may be the last one for Girl Meets World, as indicated by this tweet by star Rowan Blanchard.

No decision has yet been made regarding a season 4 renewal for GMW. BTW, the season 3 finale of GMW is going to feature a big Boy Meets World reunion.
