Default The Problem with 'The Muppets' and How to Fix It

http://www.buddytv.com/articles/the-...s-a-57690.aspx

Quote:
"The Muppets" was my most anticipated fall show. Now I'm not even sure I want to a watch the fourth episode, let alone the whole rest of the season. America evidently agrees with me because the ratings for ABC's "The Muppets" have dropped drastically. So how did things go so wrong for America's former favorite felt thespians? I think I have the answer. "The Muppets" is just way too "adult" for its own good. "The Muppets" is way too cynical, way too negative and just incredibly un-Muppet like. Still there is hope that "The Muppets" can turn it around if they make a few more tweaks.

Five they can go the dark satirical route in the vain of Meet The Feebles or the Bert is Evil website of the late 90s it may not be popular around here but its worth a shot.

It's about time for Poochy to go back to his home planet now.

Classic Simpsons reference.

They added a character named "Poochy" to the Itchy & Scratchy Show in order to boost ratings. The character was cool, hip, edgy, and had NOTHING to do with what made the original show popular or well liked. The show started tanking and everyone hated the change. It was a disaster.

So in the end they killed off Poochy by sending him back to his "home planet" and, admitting he was a bad idea, went back to business as usual. The show recovered and everyone learned that making something edgy that isn't edgy never works.

The best thing for the Muppets is to distance themselves from this show ASAP.

Thanks for clearing it up now as for how to fix this show first they need to either go to fox or cable I going towards cable due to less restrictions second if the they insist on doing mature content it wouldn't hurt to go the route of Meet the Feebles minus to gross out humor.
