Basically, the Intermediate Algebra class that I'm in, often blitzes by so quickly, that it's really hard to gain a proper grasp of what I'm supposed to do, step by step. I more than often try to rely on "alternative" means of solving the problem rom lesson/note sheets that I printed off the internet. Today, we covered Cramer's Rule/Determinants and later, Inequalities.
My main point, is that it really bothered me because it seems like my instructor just assumes that everybody should immediately be able to do what she just thought/wrote in the board. She told me that if I want to read (basically generalizing what I was doing at the time, when I should've been always writing), then I should do it at home! Again, the class goes by so quickly (we soon after had to start doing the problems on our own), that it's really hard to understand the context of what I'm supposed to learn about. |

My Algebra teacher from long ago would walk around the class-room and ask if anyone needed help when he introduced something new. It would be great if your teacher would do that. Hang in there!

How old were you when you joined here?? It shows you were a member for a lot of years and you are only now in an Algebra class? Are you talking about a high school Algebra class?

Good math teachers are hard to find! But,have you talked to your instructor after class about this? She may have some other resources to help you other than what you've found on your own. I think it was an honest mistake on her part to see you reading and think you were reading something unrelated to class. Teachers have to put up with a lot of baloney so you have to cut them some slack sometimes. I'm sure she didn't mean to upset you more than she wanted you to learn the lesson.

I took some computer classes at a community college and I feel like I came out of it not learning much more than when I went in!!! Seemed they just wanted to take peoples money more than they wanted to teach us!!!

I kinda suck in math too...the last time I was in a math class was almost two years ago, I was working on getting my Bachelor of Arts at Tri-C Metro. The closest grade I would've gotten was a D+, I at least need a C- to pass! And this was 2013, a year I wish I could forget as well...everything went wrong with my world then.
I also did a Math 950 Class three times before I passed! I now like to do the algebraic 1=1 concept. |

I always hated math in school, and never did well at it. I found it boring and my mind wondered!!!

Is there any way you can get tutoring in this class from another student? It might help get the teacher off your case. |
