Over recent cycles, says Adrienne Raphael, ANTM "went from an industry competition to a branding pageant—from a more straightforward contest that promised the winner a modeling career to one that promised the winner a large Internet following.” |

"It was,” says By E. Alex Jung, "forever and always a show about Tyra Banks, and when you realize this incontrovertible truth, there’s only one season that transcended Tyra: the first cycle. It was a rough draft of a show, a moment before Tyra had repurposed it as a vehicle for herself and her life philosophy. It actually felt like it was about modeling, and the only time the show followed Tyra’s own advice: “Human is beautiful, perfect is boring.” PLUS: ANTM was the only reality show that understood camp, the 13 most outrageous moments, where are the ANTM alums now?, and Tyra Banks reflects on her ANTM legacy. |

I've never watched this, but www.cracked.com once had a Venn Diagram showing that among the season winners, only Adrienne Curry had any kind of success, and that was because of "Marrying Peter Brady", and she & "Peter Brady" are now divorced. I only saw "My Fair Brady" once or twice and couldn't stand her. It seemed that she was always POed, and half of what she said had to be bleeped out.
