My great aunt made several in the 1930's. Maybe they are a retro afghan.

Maybe there should be a TV Show called That Creepy Afghan, it'll probably be more entertaining than what's on now!

I'm surprised there isn't a craft show featuring knitting or crocheting. The afghan would fit right in.
