Default It Looks Like A Musical Production Of ‘The O.C.’ Is In The Works

http://uproxx.com/tv/2015/06/the-oc-...l-coming-soon/

Quote:
Early in the week, we reported on Perez Hilton’s plans to star in the off-Broadway production of Full House! The Musical! This stage presentation of the about to be revived series isn’t the only item of entertainment nostalgia being transformed for the stage. Hot on the heels of Cruel Intentions: The Musical, the production team of writer/director Jordan Ross and producer Lindsey Rosin are bringing the Fox’s classic (?) teen drama The O.C. — which ran from 2003 – 2007 — to life for a one-night-only musical event.

So far, the only roles cast for the stage show have been Luke Ward, Kirsten Cohen and the show’s creator Josh Schwartz. From that news alone, it seems that this play is aiming to break the fourth wall. No set theater location has been announced as of yet, but The O.C. musical will be happening in Los Angeles on August 30.

Autumn Reeser Will Play Julie Cooper in The O.C. Musical
by Samantha Highfill
6/30/15

Taylor Townsend’s mother would be proud. (Just kidding, her mom is never pleased.) The O.C. Musical — a Los Angeles-based, one-night-only production from the minds behind Cruel Intentions The Musical — has done the impossible: It has turned Taylor Townsend into a yogalates-loving newpsie.

Well, sort of.

The O.C. Musical announced via Twitter that Autumn Reeser, known to "The O.C." fans as Taylor, has joined the cast of the show as Julie Cooper, better known as Marissa’s mother and one half of the gruesome twosome.

The musical, which will take place at The Federal Bar on Aug. 30, will rework the beloved Fox show’s pilot to incorporate the many songs now associated with the show, The Bait Shop, and of course, all of the anxiety that comes along with being a Cohen.

So far, the cast includes "The Flash’s" Rick Consett as Sandy Cohen, Jersey Boys’ Drew Seeley as Luke Ward, "Step by Step’s" Christine Lakin as Kirsten Cohen, and BuzzFeed editor Jarett Wieselman as show creator Josh Schwartz.

And now, Reeser joins the mix as the first star who was actually involved in the original show. So the question remains: Can she pull off a pink velvet jumpsuit?
