Thanks for that article. Until now, I never knew about that statue. By coincidence, along those lines, I recently bought a book on Palmistry. It was quite accurate about my financial situation. That I have financial security. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a millionaire, but I've never been in any financial debt. And the Palmistry hit that nail right on the head.
Now that I'm in my 60s, it's much more difficult to find a new female soulmate, now that my previous one has passed away. To my disappointment, the Palmistry is very difficult for finding a soulmate, but I'll keep trying. Samantha Stevens did not need any palmistry though, because all she had to do was twitch her nose. On the other hand, I would not want it that easy at all. Because love has to be earned. |

Surprisingly nowadays, Witchcraft has actually become a Religion. It's called Wicca. While there are those who practice it privately and individually, there are also many who organize into covens, in which case it qualifies as a genuine Religion. So I was wondering if there are any of you out there who actually practice this Religion?

Has anyone on this forum actually visited the town square that has the statue of Elizabeth Montgomery? It would be interesting to hear about it.

For the sake of historical accuracy, the Wiccan religion is older than many religions that exist today. Older than Christianity to be sure. So witchcraft has not "surprisingly become" a religion....it's been around for centuries. As for love, many would argue that it is not something earned.

Actually, wasn't it officially begun around the 1930s by Gerald Gardner? Granted, Wicca existed centuries before, but was seen as a Cult instead of religion until Gerald Gardner came along. It's from Gardner that Wicca became a religion officially.

When I was a little girl, my mom and I would shop in downtown Salem where there would be Woolworths, Grants and stores where you could buy household items.. All that is gone now and the tourist industry makes up for the lost of stores. Lately I have been going into Salem and I asked one of museum clerks,How long has the Salem witch museums been here. Not that long only since the mid 1970's. Just about the time the stores of the past closed their doors to big malls.

Is it due to stereotyping that the Gypsies are associated with fortune telling? Especially with palmistry, palm reading. Because when I used to get Johnson Smith novelty catalogs in the mail, those decks of fortune-telling cards were always labeled as Gypsy cards depicting a lady with her head wrapped in a bandana and wearing gaudy ear-rings. And also to Palm reading because I watched the horror movie The Wolfman and there you have a Gypsy doing palmistry. In fact, the Gypsy's palm reading predicted that a lady would become the next victim of the Werewolf.
So imagine my surprise when I find that Palmistry actually originated from China!! I also bet that if you visit Salem, you'll find witchcraft decks with a gypsy label. |

Do any of you patronize occult supply shops? There is one locally where peculiar candles are made for specific spells. Those candles are made by the shop's owner because she knows what herbs and other ingredients to put into those candles. Even when I bought a book on candle burning I found the instructions much too complicated, so prefer the lady to do them for me.
