20 years ago this month, Blossom said goodbye after 5 Seasons and 114 Episodes on NBC Prime Time and the Final Episode was entitled "Goodbye" and Blossom ends the show w/the words "I'll See Ya"

Blossom also suffered in the ratings when the show landed @ #55 and even with competition against the Hit CBS Sitcom Dave's World w/Harry Anderson and DeLane Matthews which was a Top 20 Hit during the 94/95 Season

and now, here's the final episode of Blossom entitled "Goodbye"

It wasnt on particularly long only 5 seasons but it was a good show. I do think it was time to go because Blossom had gotten older.

Blossom was a family sitcom that debuted in 1990 on NBC. It starred Mayim Bialik as Blossom Russo and enjoyed a five-season run before meeting its end on May 22, 1995.

The reason for Blossom’s demise? It ended because the show was abruptly changed to have a much darker tone.

The most notable example was “The Date” episode in which Blossom faces a violent attack from a boy she is on a date with. This episode aired around the time of the OJ Simpson trial.

The producers thought it was timely and relevant, and would help teach young viewers that “no means no,” and that victim blaming is never ok.

Blossom had done issue based episodes before and the writers and producers wanted to continue to explore serious topics. However, NBC received immediate backlash and the show was canceled.

I remember that episode and the actor on that episode is James Marsden from the syndicated Teen Comedy Boogie's Diner and later starred in abc's Second Noah and his biggest claim to fame is playing the role of Cyclops in the X-Men Moves in the 2000's

I also noticed that Blossom went from a Family Sitcom to a more serious tone

I couldn't understand why they did it in the 1st place

As evidenced by this memorable Saturday Night Live sketch, Blossom had enough "very special episodes" during its five-season run to merit an entire list of its own, but the series set the tone almost immediately out of the gate with "Blossom Blossoms," the first episode aired after the significantly different pilot. While Blossom's seemingly unfounded fears about her parents getting a divorce figured heavily in the pilot, part of the show's retooling has her mother abandoning the family altogether, leaving her father (now renamed Nick and recast as Ted Wass) to raise young Blossom (always and forever played by Mayim Bialik) on his own.

As the semi-redundant episode title suggests, Blossom becomes painfully aware of her lack of female role models when she experiences that time of the month for the very first time. As a result, she's forced to turn to her friend Six (Jenna von Oÿ) for advice, even though she's barely reached puberty herself. Fortunately, Blossom gets some helpful advice from a hallucination she has of Phylicia Rashad drawing a diagram of the female reproductive system in frosting. As brother Joey would say, "Whoa!"
