Dempsey is under contract through next season. But according to Page Six, he may be written out of the show sooner thanks to his "diva" behavior.

totally....LOL....I am a bigg Greys fan and have watched since day one....I wasn't really into that whole mcdreamy thing but I did like Derek and Meredith and their adorable family and trying top balance everything....honestly the show wont be the same for me without him....in my never to be humble opinion its a bad move....just saying.

The Change.org petition declares, "YOU HAVE TO BRING DEREK BACK! NOW! IMMEDIATELY!" PLUS: Patrick Dempsey says ABC was angry when he suggested last November that Derek would be leaving soon.
