Question Who else feels sorry (or pity) for Danny Tanner

First he loses his wife, but then he gets his brother in law and best friend to move in and help raise his kids, which is cool.

But then....

His brother in law and best friend become best friends, so much so that he'd rather have said friend as his best man as opposed to Danny.

Danny's own daughter would rather have her uncle take her to see the Beach Boys, and have him and Joey come to school for show and tell. Again, over her own father.

And perhaps the biggest kick in the butt, Danny, who has seniority at the TV station where he works, gets passed over for a job as producer, to Becky, who is of course married to his brother in law.

Danny goes out of his way for these people, giving up his attic and garage and this is the thanks he gets?

On the other hand, there was no indication Jesse and Danny were close friends prior to him moving in. They just considered themselves brothers-in-law.

Danny might have seniority at the station, but he and Becky started Wake Up, San Francisco together. I think it'd be wrong for Danny to get a promotion to producer just because he (badly) covered sports. Remember, he screwed up the interview with the boxer. She just does a better job.

And while I'd feel bad for Danny that DJ would take Jesse, but he doesn't exactly take the high road. He pretty much guilts her into not even wanting to go. I can't remember if there were any earlier references to Jesse's love of the Beach Boys and if it just started here, but I think if there were then it's fair decision for DJ to pick Jesse. I know Jesse always talked about Elvis and if Elvis announced he was alive all this time and DJ won a contest to see him and chose Jesse, Danny would still be butt hurt.

I HATED how Danny acted in the Beach Boys episode. I would have felt bad for him if he hadn't guilted D.J. so badly to the point where she didn't want to go. Same with Jesse choosing Joey as his best man instead of Danny. Danny was a crybaby and acted like a little child. I love the show but I never liked Danny.

While we're at it, Joey was such a loser in the last 2 seasons. Joey could have been a great character IF the writers would have expanded his range a bit and gave him some decent plot lines. Why couldn't Joey have had a serious girlfriend (lasting longer than an episode or two)? Or what if he had been portrayed as a normal guy (instead of simply, a pathetic man-child living in his best friend's basement) who did "normal guy" things?

Instead, Joey regressed to being little more than the weird relative the family tolerates and gives lip service too when he gets his little feelings hurt. They just used him as the guy who made them laugh and catered to Michelle's problems, and they didn't care to make him any more than the funny guy in the house.

To me, Joey and Danny both got raw deals in the final season when it came to their love lives. Gia's mom was OK, but I still think that Vicki was wonderful because she was willing to be a mom to the girls had her job not meant so much to her and even though we do know that Joey's Valentine's Day secret admirer in the final season was Michelle's teacher, we never see them together again after that. To me, they were a great match because they both loved kids her being a teacher and him being himself of course and all.

God bless you always!!!

I did kind of feel sorry for Danny because DJ didn't pick him to do career day, Jesse chose Joey instead of him as best man, and that other episode where Jesse and Joey start hanging out and leaving Danny out, and he didn't get chosen for the promotion even though he had been there a lot longer. But, he was winey and I didn't like how he acted in the episode where DJ chose Jesse to go to the concert. I know it was always said that Jesse was a huge Elvis fan and you didn't really hear anything about other singers he liked, but here it says that he was a big fan of the group so it would have be natural for her to pick Jesse if he was a big fan (more of a fan than Danny). I see how it would hurt his feelings though to have his daughter want to go with her uncle instead of him, but he shouldn't have made her feel so guilty that she wouldn't want to go. And, even though he would feel bad for Jesse choosing Joey as best man over him he shouldn't have acted as he did about it. Though, if you do things for these people like he did and was supposed to be great friends with them it would upset you if they seemed to not want you around for things like that, especially if it were your own kids that would want someone else instead of you for things. He probably just felt bad and didn't handle that well because of it.
