Default Bill Maher attracts more than 4 million viewers, yet Real Time is considered late-nig

Maher’s HBO show is frequently overlooked despite him doing it for 13 years, perhaps because of its Friday timeslot.

Perhaps it's because he does a single themed show with a bunch of hooting hollering morons in the audience.

I do give him credit for his stance on islam, though.

Who often groan at him as much as they hoot. And it's certainly not a single themed show, though certain ones definitely come up over and over again.

When I say single themed show I mean Democrats good, Republicans bad. The show used to be called 'Politically Incorrect' when it was on network TV but that was a joke considering how PC it actually was.

Well, yeah. The shows official subtitle is Republicans Bad. You're Republican, right? I'm surprised you watch.

I don't watch it. When it was on ABC as Politically Incorrect I watched it for awhile, being that I'm pretty politically incorrect myself. But when it became obvious what the show actually was, I stopped watching. Sometimes if I pass it by I'll stay for a little while. He occasionally has worthwhile people on. But I do love it when he slams islam, and whenever that happens, it will make news so I'll tune in just for that segment. But if any show screams out why celebrities should not be taken seriously on politics, that's the one.

"Real Time with Bill Maher" Renewed through 2018
by Natalie Abrams
7/30/16

HBO has renewed "Real Time with Bill Maher" through 2018, the network announced Saturday at the Television Critics Association press tour.

Having just aired special election coverage during the Republican and Democratic conventions, the show will return for season 15 in 2017, while season 16 is scheduled for 2018.

Bill Maher’s fearless and irreverent insights make him an important voice of common sense,” said HBO President of Programming Casey Bloys. “We are happy to extend our partnership and continue to provide him with the same uncensored forum that he’s enjoyed on the network since the late ’80s.

Added Maher: “As long as Washington keeps serving up crazy, we’ll be there to push it around the plate. In these turbulent, uncertain times, I can’t think of anything more important than me being on TV.

I don't have HBO but try to watch the clips as much as I can. Loved Politically Incorrect and enjoyed all types of guests. I remember one time he had on Simon LeBon from Duran Duran and Ted Nugent. Interesting, though one is a known rightwinger and the other a known leftwinger. I don't mind Nugent's music (though not his politics) and love Duran Duran (and they've become far more political than people realize, Simon taking advice probably from his buddy Bono).

by Denise Petski and Greg Evans
September 6, 2017

HBO has renewed "Real Time with Bill Maher" for two more seasons. The deal will take the show through Season 17 and 18, scheduled for 2019 and 2020.

It also includes Maher’s 11th stand-up special on the premium network and a retrospective special highlighting memorable moments from "Real Time’s" previous seasons.

Said Maher, “I’m extraordinarily grateful to HBO for one of the great relationships of my life, and I applaud their efforts to fight ageism by signing me to this extended deal.

The deal adds two more seasons to the run of the show, which has been on the network since 2003.

"Real Time with Bill Maher" Renewed at HBO through 2026
by Peter White
March 13, 2024

HBO is staying in the Bill Maher business.

The Warner Bros. Discovery-owned cable network has renewed "Real Time with Bill Maher" for two more seasons. It means Maher will stay on the network through the end of 2026 and take him close to 700 episodes of the show, which launched in 2003.

Two more years in the dream job of a lifetime, on the network so many dream of being on – I think that’s what we call a no-brainer,” said Maher.
