It's not just Nickelodeon, the 90s were great for every network. Try as the networks may, you can't recreate that wonderful decade.

I sooooo miss 90's television, though we have cable it didn't lose identity. The internet was young and NO reality shows clogged the airwaves! |

The 90s were really the best decade for TV overall...Nickelodeon and other networks. There were some really good sitcoms then and I've never seen a time since then when there were just so many good sitcoms at once like the 90s. Nickelodeon and Disney channel have both basically gone from shows that were more about kids just being kids and were fun to watch to shows that are more about teaching kids lessons and tackling tough issues and topics and that makes them not as fun to watch. While it's good that kids can learn a lot from the shows and maybe learn some good lessons it's not really as entertaining or fun to watch these type of shows. There are also some shows that seem kind of just silly or stupid on TV for kids now as far as actual shows, not cartoons. The shows of the 90s that were for kids seemed so much more enjoyable, fun, and where you could totally relate to them as kids just being kids and dealing with kid things, not like more adult things.
Other shows were better in the 90s too. There were so many good sitcoms then that were just fun, funny, and more wholesome. Like Evening Shade...I always loved that as did my entire family. It was a nice, decent show that was wholesome and funny without being all perverted or people being drunk or sleeping with people, etc like a lot of shows today. A lot of those type of shows were funny and entertaining to watch while being wholesome or at least mostly wholesome. Sure, there were shows that you wouldn't call wholesome, but there were still a lot of shows that were. Seems the 90s was really the last really good decade for TV sitcoms. |
