Default Will meeting his father was emotional

I loved how Uncle was there for Will when is loser of a father walked out on him again. Loved how Will called him "Lou" instead of "dad".

Yeah, that was a really good episode. And as a neat coincidence, I saw it for the first time on my father's 60th birthday!

I think this was the beginning of Will Smith's great acting ability. This is really when he got into his game.

Speaking of awards I wonder why that wasn't considered for an Emmy nomination back when the episode aired.

Will Smith's acting in that episode was flawless.
That is the only episode of Fresh Prince that actually made me cry.

To me, both of Will's parents needed their heads knocked together! As if his dad being such a way wasn't enough, I recently saw the episode when Will was going to get married to his girl friend and his mom swoops right in and gets married to the girl's dad! To me, that should have been the day that Will washed his hands of his mom. What that woman and Will's dad obviously did not seem to get was that when you become a parent, the child is supposed to be first in your life. What if Will still wanted to marry that girl? It probably couldn't be done once they became step siblings.

God bless you always!!!

I'm glad I didn't see that episode. I will never forgive my mom if she did that.

Me too. I thought it was just because I grew up without my dad in my life.

Nice list, but I don't agree with two of the points. They don't make me sad, only angry.

5: Even if knowing "the whole history" is good, reading Malcolm X's autobiography is a good place to start. And I lose all sympathy for Viv when she gave Will and Carlton more work, just because they happened to be black.

10: I'm sorry, but I don't see how Carlton having a gun would be so bad. He had been scared and wanted to be able to protect himself. But no, he was not allowed to do that! What bull****...

I saw this episode not to long ago and to be honest, I actually prefer Will's dad over his mom because at least his dad was upfront about his selfishness from the very beginning. What Will's mom did to him later on in his life was inexcusable in my opinion stopping Will from getting married so that she herself could marry the girl's dad. To me a parent who puts their own needs and wants first at the expense of their kids, to me, is not a parent and is only in sheer and severe need of a swift kicking right where it HURTS!!!

God bless you always!!!

Holly

P.S. To me, if you don't want to have another life to consider in such a way, don't go spreading certain things until you do.
