Was the "Divorce Court" episode (Season 3) delayed by ABC
Nick @ Nite seems to only air this episode in its cycle around Halloween season. I checked the original airdate and it says that "Divorce Court" was originally broadcast on ABC on November 17, 1989. I find it extremely odd that a Halloween centric episode would air in mid-November. Then again, Fox for a few years, aired the "Treehouse of Horror" episodes of The Simpsons in early November because of their postseason baseball commitments.
It soon occurred to me that I recall that ABC was committed to broadcasting the World Series in 1989. The World Series that year was delayed by 10 days due to an earthquake prior to the start of Game 3 on October 17. I'm guessing that "Divorce Court" was initially supposed to air on October 27, which was a Friday night. |
