I DON'T mean negatively-like a show you used to love as a kid but are disappointed in now-those stories are sad.
I mean shows that you look at in perhaps a different way than you did when you were younger. |

Baywatch, Full House - these 2 shows I see something that only kids would watch.

I view everything different now as an adult but the shows I view more differently now are "Pee-wee's Playhouse", "Boy Meets World", "Garfield & Friends", "Green Acres", "Small Wonder", "ALF", & "Dinosaurs". I think I actually respect these shows more now than I did then.

Let's be serious here, that is if we want to be serious? Have we never really rolled our eyes during "Walking Dead" or "Game of Thrones"??? Aren't they all really lame at some point? Of course they are... There really hasn't been a sophisticated, genuine ball breaking show on cable television since HBO's "Deadwood". I always said, "Don't push the envelope off the cliff", because you'll never really have nothing later left to push off that cliff. (that's why we have the Internet!) Regardless, in the end you're ultimately going to regret falling off the cliff! |

When V: The Miniseries came out in 1983. I was seven and thought it was a cool story about aliens taking over Earth. When I returned to it in my 30's and read how creator Kenneth Johnson meant the whole thing as an allegory for a fascist society taking over Earth, a second viewing shows it's not just another alien takeover story as they do more than just kill. They brainwash people, they put their own in political and medical authority roles, and enslave humans making them second class citizens.

Other shows I liked to mention are the original G.I.Joe and Transformers cartoons, laugh if you will but some of those cartoons were smartly written with clever dialogue. |

Full House and Family Ties. I use to watch them when they first aired and enjoyed them. Now they seem too cutesy and perfect and I can't get into them anymore. They were good in their time but they don't keep my interest.

Married... with Children
Used to enjoy the entire show, but the audiences' constant yelling got annoying. Seasons 8-11 (or at least 8-10) took a different focus from the sarcasm of the earlier years, with the dumbing down of characters and a more cartoonish style. |

THE ODD COUPLE - Was never interested in it back when it was constantly in syndication in the late '70s/early '80s. Am discovering it on DVD for the first time and am enjoying it.
LAVERNE & SHIRLEY - Watched it religiously on ABC (at least up to S6) but now I can only take it in small doses on DVD due to the juvenile writing and silliness. Interesting both are Gary Marshall relics. |
